What is DigiCV?
DigiCV is a new way of applying for jobs through the internet. All you have to do to apply for a job by DigiCV is to click the button underneath the ad. This will automatically transfer your digital CV to the producer. When the deadline has passed, the producer will have a handy list of all applicants and can choose the ones he wants to invite for a casting.
You can always check the current state of your DigiCV application in "My Mailbox". You will also find producers' messages there. And the best thing for you is: You are guaranteed a reply. Of course we cannot promise it will be an invitation to a casting, but isn't it better to receive a rejection than not knowing at all whatever happened to your application? Since the handling of DigiCV-ads is time-consuming for us, we have to charge one Euro per application.
Why have you invented DigiCV? Isn't it just a money-spinner for you?
DigiCV has been created to faciliate the casting process for producers and casting agents. They were asking for for an easy way to receive applications without having to return dozens of postal applications or deal with megabyte-sized attachments clogging up their email. It has always been our aim to help them save time which they can better use to work on movies, TV-series or new stage productions.
Application by DigiCV is cheaper than using the post. And most importantly: You will definitely receive a reply, while documents sent by often are sometimes not returned and email applications drown between hundreds of other application.
And what do producers like about DigiCV?
They like most of all how much time they save when they can use DigiCV instead of answering the phone all day or deal with dozens of letters. They appreciate that all applications are in the same format and low on bytes. And since all information is stored online it doesn't matter if the producer sits in one town and the director in another town – they can still check all applications together and choose candidates.
Wouldn't it make more sense if the producer, who really benefits from DigiCV, would be the one paying for it?
Sure, we could try that, but we would end up having less ads and no one would be the happier for that. The need to know what jobs are on offer lies with the artists. In other fields of business employers pay to find new staff but unfortunately it doesn't work this way in showbusiness. StagePool has to keep calling theatres, casting agents and producers to ask them to publish their job offers on our website and use our artist catalogue to find new artists. If StagePool started asking money for publishing ads, many casting people would decline to publish on our website.
Why can only "Gold"-members send personal messages with their DigiCVs?
StagePool offers many extras. In order to use all these extras, we charge a slightly higher membership fee.
DigiCV is very practical, but can't you name the company behind the ad? I really want to know who I am applying to.
We leave the decision to the producers. Many wouldn't publish an ad if they were forced to publish their name, fearing an avalanche of phone calls, emails and letters. Thanks to DigiCV we now have job offers we wouldn't have had otherwise. You can trust us that we check ALL ads and ALL producers before we publish anything to make sure they are serious and reputable.
Why does it take so long to receive an answer sometimes?
Sometimes producers prefer to wait until all roles are cast and contracts signed before they send negative replies to those not chosen for casting. It can always occur that they don't find the right person at the first casting and select more people for a second casting. We are constantly in touch with our advertisers and if necessary remind them to send answers to everyone who applied.
Why don't you offer a "flatrate" for unlimited DigiCV usage?
We will consider this in the near future. But you know you can send DigiCVs for free? When you recruit a new member for StagePool or inform us about an audition we hadn't known about yet, we will add a credit of 10 Euro to your account – that's 10 DigiCVs for free.
DigiCV doesn't seem to work for me – what's wrong?
We have developed and tested DigiCV for PC and MAC, with various different browers and operating systems and didn't report any problems. However there may be settings on your computer that prevent the use of DigiCV. If you click on "apply!" and nothing happens Javascript has probably been deactivated on your computer. To activate Javascript, open Internet Explorer, choose "Extras" –-> "Internet Options" and go to advanced settings.
Another problem can be Spyware, small software programmes that often install themselves unbidden on your computer when you download and install programmes from the internet and which can disturb your operating system. You can get rid of Spyware by using special anti-spyware software such as Ad-aware from Lavasoft. Download it for free at: www.tucows.com/adnload/236049_95468.html
